Swedish Meatballs

This Recipe is delicious and hearty. It makes a good dinner for family night, with a thick juicy gravy, it’s great on mashed potatoes, along with a side of cranberry sauce.

Instructions

  1. In a large pan, add the oil, garlic, and onions. Cook till onions are soft and transparent. Once cooked, set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients and mix till combined.

  3. After mixed, make meatballs about 1 1/2 inches. After rolling the chilled meatballs for about 15 minutes, so they hold their shape.

  4. Once meatballs are chilled, get out a large frying pan and add oil. Cook meatballs on medium heat till they start to brown.

  5. Once all meatballs are cooked, remove from pan and set aside.

  6. Using the same pan that we cooked the meatballs in, add the butter and flour to create a roux. Cooking on low.

  7. Once your roux is done, add in the beef stock and the heavy cream, mix well, then add the rest of the sauce ingredients, making sure to continue to mix.

  8. Once the sauce becomes a gravy consistency, add the meatballs back into the sauce to cook the rest of the way. About 7 minutes.

  9. Serve and enjoy

Mashed Potatoes (optional)

  1. Peel and cut potatoes.

  2. Add to boiling water and boil potatoes till soft (should be able to stick a fork in them)

  3. Remove from boiling water and add to a bowl and set aside.

  4. In a small bowl, heat about 1/3 cup heavy cream or milk till warm.

  5. Add the warm milk to potatoes along with melted butter, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. (add seasoning to taste)

  6. Mash till potatoes are the consistency you like. (adding cream as needed).

  7. Serve and enjoy

Meatballs

  • 2 pounds of ground pork

  • 1/2 yellow onion

  • 1 teaspoon oil

  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1.5 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons butter

  • 3 tablespoons flour

  • 2 cups beef stock

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  • 3 russet potatoes

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 1/3 heavy cream or milk (warmed)

  • salt

  • pepper

  • garlic powder

Optional

  • 1 can of cranberry sauce
